They are both lots of computer gathered in one place.
Difference
Cloud is also known as “software defined hardware”, (“money defined hardware” from my perspective) customers just rent hardware/computing resource and then use them. They only spend the money for using and do not own the actual devices. They can spend the money on what they want and delegate all other stuff(security, mantainence, update …) to the cloud service provider.
Using the cloud keeps costs down for companies, and allows them to focus on what they do best, leaving the cloud computing expertise in the hands of the provider.
Security
- By using a cloud service, you rely on the cloud provider.
- The devices may need key to access cloud service
- Devices may have been monitored by installed code, check if there is firmware change, unusually data and request.
